evanderBoxing Great Evander Holyfield’s quotes against homosexuality created quite a controversy and earned Big Brother UK undue attention, prompting its management to issue a statement.

Evander Holyfield, who takes pride in his deep Christian faith, told his housemate Luisa Zissman on Sunday’s Big Brother UK episode that being gay is a choice and therefore fixable.

“If you were born and your leg were turned this way, what would you do? You go to the doctor and get it fixed back right? All I’m trying to tell you, you know how handicapped people are born? You can’t say because they are born that way you can’t move that,” he said on the show as reported by Radar Online.

Evander Holyfield’s rant earned a retort from “Karma Chameleon” singer Boy George who tweeted, “Who was homophobic on CBB?”

“Shame, I had such admiration for Mr Evander Holyfield, he seemed dignified and I was sure he was a cool, smart, giant!” he added.

Both stars appeared to let the conversation go however, the show’s producers then called the former heavyweight champion to go into the private room where he was shackled and got a dressing down.

“[We] must therefore warn you [Holyfield] to consider very carefully the effect expressing such views may have and the harm and offense you may cause by repeating these views inside the house,” Big Brother said.

But Holyfield wasn’t about to apologize for sharing his views although he conceded that it’s being aired to millions of viewers. He explained: “I forgot about the thing (the cameras). I was just telling her my opinion, but it’s not like I was gonna mention it to anybody else, that was just our conversation.”

In a statement published by RadarOnline, Big Brother UK was quoted saying “Evander was told that his views weren’t shared by a large section of society and that expressing those views and the language he used could be seen as extremely offensive to many people.”

“The producers of Big Brother will continue to monitor this and will take further appropriate action should a similar matter arise again,” it added.
